LEED Experience & Sustainable Design
JM Olson Corporation has long recognized the importance and value of
employing construction practices that conserve natural resources, reduce
waste, and create healthier and more productive environments. We are
committed to remaining on the cutting edge of our industry, and thereby
take a proactive approach to the national efforts dedicated to minimizing
the impact that the construction industry has on the environment.
As a recognized leader in environmental and “green” construction, JM Olson
Corporation was forging the way when it became one of the first to adopt
environmentally responsible construction techniques, such as total project
waste recycling and utilization. The debris created by all of our projects
is sent to recycling centers in order to limit our usage of landfills. And
in the hope of decreasing negative effects on the forests and environment
at large, JM Olson has implemented a company policy of requiring that as
much site debris as possible is to be recycled on every job we undertake.
Our dedication continues through the successful completion of multiple
“Green” Building projects. Building upon the commitment to environmental
management exhibited by our quality control system, we have actively sought
and been awarded projects of environmental significance, including the LEED
Certified Detroit Lion’s Headquarters and Training Facility (Allen Park), the
University of Michigan S.T. Dana Building (Ann Arbor), Fairlane Green Retail
Center (Allen Park), and the new Kresge Foundation Headquarters (Troy). Building
upon these experiences allows us to provide our clients with the highest level of
environmental expertise in the planning, construction, and fit out of their structures.
Our staff is comprised of many talented and certified LEED accredited professionals
who can provide our clients with the information and options to build sustainability
into their structure. They are continuously researching and implementing new Green
products and technologies that save initial construction costs and reduce on-going
energy consumption. From carefully selecting materials to constructing systems
for decreased long-term energy costs, building Green is very budget friendly.
Coupled with their project experience, our staff dedicates themselves to working
with our architect/engineer partners to provide the highest level of environmental
design into your project.
In our opinion, construction companies taking a proactive approach to the
environment are better able to address environmental issues in the construction
process, which is vital in the planning and execution of today’s demand for Green
construction. JM Olson’s Environmental Management System (EMS) is among the
construction industry’s most comprehensive approach for managing safety and
environmental issues. Our approach focuses on streamlining processes, reducing
waste, minimizing environmental impact and protecting worker safety while reducing costs.
JM Olson Corporation is very proud of our LEED project portfolio and the
unique characteristics and successes of each individual project, and we
look forward to having the opportunity to put our knowledge and commitment
to the environment to work for you.
