LEED Certified
Located on the Fairlane Green Retail Center site, this electronics store
had the unique opportunity to incorporate some new Green Building technology
into its design. Due to the project’s location on one of the Nation’s
largest Brownfield Redevelopment sites, the construction incorporated
Liquid Boot technology. This rubber membrane prevents vapors or
containments from escaping into the building. A special vent system is
installed from the roof down to the membrane to allow any trapped gases to
escape above the roof level.
The Best Buy store also has an extraordinary energy management system
that closely monitors all HVAC temperatures and lighting mechanisms to
ensure the building operates as efficiently as possible. A computer
system is responsible for the constant monitoring and adjustments of
the systems.
In addition, recycling played a large part in the construction process.
During construction 52.12% of all construction waste was separated and
recycled. In addition recycled materials were incorporated in the
construction to add to the building’s environmental conscious design.
