Frontier Sports Complex Maintenance Facility

This LEED certified maintenance facility was built to to increase the operational efficiency for the Naperville Park District which serves residents year round and will be the LEED certified facility in Naperville. The strucutre utilized numerous environmentally friendly materials during its construction. From low emitting materials such as adhesives, sealants, paints, carpet, and composite wood, the facility is composed of the latest environmentally conscious materials. The landscape materials are composed of drought tolerant plant species, and bioswales are also located on site. The project aslo features lighting controls, utilization of natural lighting sources, sun shades, and window glazing.

During construction a large portion of all construction waste was separated and recycled appropriately. In addition the project included many recycled materials, as well as materials that were harvested and manufactured locally into its design. The building also features a cool roof that is designed to reduce the heat island effect and conserve energy. These cool roofs have the potential to save occupants up to 40% in utility costs over the building’s lifetime.
